Training Their Hearts

Above anything else I want my children ready for Heaven. Sometimes it seems to me to be a monumental task. But it is certainly a goal worth striving for!
What are ways that you seek to train your children's heart's toward the Lord?
One way that I really love is through Scripture Songs. One particular CD that we really love is a Scripture Song CD by Hannah and Caleb Rayne. You can purchase it through Restoration International. All the music is so tastefully done. There are also little lessons to learn in between each song. (or you can go to the end of the CD and listen to JUST the songs.
Also, through Bible stories. The kids love the My Bible Friends series as well as their Sabbath School lesson. Hannah loves learning and memorizing her Memory Verse each month!
Another fun thing is watching Tiny Tots and Kids Time-shows produced by Three Angels Broadcasting Network. You can actually watch these shows live. They air starting at 5:00p.m. EST M-S. Hannah now pretends she is Miss Brenda and Auntie Linda and plays that she is on the show. She very reverently kneels down and bows her head and offers prayers and songs just like they do on the shows. It is instilling a love for Jesus within her. I love that. Lots of good morals and character are taught on these 2 shows.
Other than that, just being an example and saying things throughout the day. For example, Hannah was helping me unload the dishwasher and she said to me: I am helping you and I am making Jesus happy! Or, "I I am being loving and Jesus likes that." She sings songs about being obedient as well.... ;) It's fun to see tender little hearts turn toward Jesus.

  1. Hi, Sarah,
I have also enjoyed the Memory Verse Songs by Wayne Hooper which are available through They were done in the 1970's, and were to correlate with the 3-year Bible cycle that was the "Old Curriculum" in the SDA church. (one new verse each week). They feature a 3-CD set, with 53 songs per CD, and they were the memory verses for the Cradle Roll/Kindergarten lessons that I learned back at that time. Even though these are not corresponding with the current Grace Link curriculum, the verses are great to learn, and the tunes are catchy. My 3-year old and 2-year old love them, and they are very soothing, not "rock and roll" sounding like some of the children's Bible song CD sets I have heard. The set is called "Sing a Bible Verse", and I think I paid around $30 for the 3-CD set. They are also available as individual CD's.

  2. Hello Sarah, I was just reading some of your older posts and wanted to comment. We loved the kids shows on 3ABN. Also I loved the cooking show that had Miss Brenda and her sisters in it. We watched it when we had sky angel. But we haven't had tv in a few years. I do wish I had those kids shows for my little one to watch. God Bless
