A Blessed Weekend

This past weekend was lovely in every way. Not only was the weather perfect-sunny, warm and flowery, but my dear friend Heather and her hubby, David came to visit us! The weekend flew by way too quickly. They arrived on Friday evening after an eventful day of fighting Easter weekend traffic. (Going on 4 years married)
On Sabbath, after church and a yummy Lasagna dinner, we took a great hike at Panther Creek State Park. It was a mile and a half-uphill and then downhill. I suppose with the little ones we ought to have checked the trail marker ahead of time! If we had done so, we would have noticed that the trail was marked as Moderately Strenuous! Hannah was a TROOPER though-she hiked the entire trail with a pause halfway for a pick-me-up snack. Nathan also did great!

After we got home from the hike we decided to see how the duck's took to the water! Ha-ha! It was pretty funny. At first they didn't know what to do with it, but gradually they calmed down and really seemed to enjoy themselves, dunking their heads in and out and splashing around.

Sunday morning, Heather arranged an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. David and Mike hid the eggs all over the yard and porch and the kids had an absolute blast finding the hidden eggs!

Then we did a couple's photo shoot in our front yard-had to take advantage of these awesome pear tree blossoms!
Afterwards, Heather and I started on making potato salad, mock chicken loaf and a veggie tray for our picnic. Meanwhile, the men daydreamed in the living room about buying million dollar ranches out in Austin, TX. They got the computer out and searched for a cool spread. Let me tell you, they found plenty of amazing places, but we couldn't touch them with a ten foot pole they were so pricey. But hey, it's fun to dream, right? :)
After our picnic we went to Bass Pro and browsed the place. It's a fun place to go and the kids enjoyed seeing all the fish and animals (taxodermy). They had a fun target practise place upstairs where you can practise "shooting" at targets. Hannah wanted to try her hand at it. Boy, that girl is trigger happy! We're going to have to train her in a little rifle etiquette let me tell you! We ended the day by putting the kids to bed and playing a good game of Imagine If-with popcorn and Virgin (of course) Pina Colada's all around. :)
*Sniff sniff* goodbye Heather.... maybe I'll get to see you again this summer. (I hope!)
Back to the daily grind and reality. But somehow, the fact that it's spring and beautiful weather... it helps you get through these dissapointing moments... ;)
Hope you all had as good a weekend as I did!
